Career Advising and Information

Baltimore International College Career Development provides a variety of advising and employment services to students during their time at BIC, as well as to alumni in good standing. Upon arrival, students are encouraged to stop by Career Development and start learning more about career opportunities.

Numerous employers in the hospitality and culinary industries contact Career Development every day. Employment opportunities are posted weekly in Career Development and on bulletin boards throughout the campus. Additionally, Career Development conducts résumé referrals, hosts a bi-annual career fair, and holds year-round on-campus interviews with representatives of restaurant, hotel and foodservice organizations.

Interviewing, career research, and cover letter and résumé assistance is offered on both an individual basis and in group sessions. Individual advisement is always available. The goal, of the College and of Career Development, is to assist students and alumni with employment and career development.

For more information on the Career Development Office, please contact Jarrette Thomas, Director of Student Services, at 410.752.4710 ext. 242 or via email at jbuford@bic.edu

Student Employment

Career Development maintains listings and information on full-time, part-time, seasonal and on-call positions located throughout the United States. Thousands of notices are received each year from employers who need chefs, pastry chefs, sous chefs, cooks, bakers, innkeepers and restaurant managers, just to name a few.

Companies and organizations seeking employees attend BIC-sponsored job fairs, and conduct on-campus interviews throughout the year. These companies range from large corporations to small, family-owned businesses, and many visit BIC on a regular basis.

BIC Career Fairs

Baltimore International College sponsors two Career Fairs every year, one during the fall semester and one during the spring semester, so students and alumni can speak directly with employers in the hospitality and culinary industries. At the Career Fairs, students and alumni can distribute résumé, interview with prospective employers, or network with employers from restaurants, hotels and other industry services.

Check back soon to view BIC's upcoming career fairs.

Average Salaries of Hospitality and Culinary Professionals

As stated in Foodservice Director magazine, foodservice management professionals (directors, assistants, managers) under the age of 30 are more likely to have gone to culinary or hospitality school than their older peers and mentors, according to recent research.
