Housing for New/Returning Students

New Students

Thank you for selecting Baltimore International College as your higher education choice. Move-in for incoming housing students will be Wednesday, September 1st from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. BIC Orientation for housing students will be September 2, 2010. Shuttle service will be provided for orientation.

Please note that you are responsible for all meals from September 1st – 6th. Your meal plan does not take effect until the first day of classes, September 7th.

Returning Students

We do hope that you are having a great summer. The faculty and staff are excited about the fall semester and are anticipating your return. You room assignment is from September 7, 2010 – December 22, 2010.

The move-in date for returning housing students will be Saturday, September 4th – Sunday, September 5th from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Dress Code

Please note also that BIC has revised the dress code policy for academic classes. The new dress code will take effect September 7, 2010. All students in Arts & Science classes in the Commerce Building must dress in business or business casual attire. This includes the BIC Chef Uniform and BIC Management Uniform. The dress code EXCLUDES any type of denim bottom, tee shirts and sweatshirts (BIC tee shirts and sweatshirts are NOT permitted) or other nonprofessional clothes. Cultural or hospitality industry clothes that are typically worn in front of customers MAY be acceptable.

Student Housing

Single students under the age of 22 whose permanent residence is farther than 50 miles from the BIC must reside in Dublin Hall. Students residing in Dublin Hall have the advantages of in-house tutoring, a short commute to classes and high-speed Internet connections in each room.

Pack Your Bags

Before buying everything on this list, limit yourself to the essentials until you know the size of your room and what your roommates are willing to contribute.

What To Bring:

  • Bedding (extra long twin – 80" for shared room, or regular full for single)
  • Mattress pad and pillows
  • Towels and washcloths
  • Shower curtain and bath rug
  • Alarm clock
  • Desk lamp
  • Telephone
  • Toiletries
  • Coat hangers
  • Laundry and cleaning supplies (for bathroom, furniture, etc.)
  • First aid supplies
  • Surge protector power strip

What Not To Bring:

  • Expensive items (stereos, musical instruments, jewelry, etc.)
  • Items of significant sentimental value
  • Refrigerators, hot plates, toaster ovens, microwaves, George Foreman grills, crockpots, or slow cookers.

NOTE: You are responsible for your own property. When leaving your room, you are advised to lock your doors.

Property Insurance

Baltimore International College is not responsible for damages or loss of personal property. Students are encouraged to buy property insurance or check to make sure they are covered under their family's or personal renter's insurance policy.
