About BIC
Founded in 1972, Baltimore International College is dedicated to providing high-quality culinary arts and hospitality management programs to the future hospitality workers of the U.S.
BIC comprises two main campuses. The main campus in Baltimore, MD, consists of the Commerce Exchange building, just two blocks from the world-famous Inner Harbor, which features academic classrooms, library, gallery of edible art and computer labs. In addition, the Culinary Arts Center in Little Italy features state-of-the-art kitchen labs and gardens.
BIC’s international campus is in Virginia, County Cavan, Ireland at the historic Virginia Park Estate. All students participate in a five-week practicum at the Ireland campus, learning international hospitality and culinary arts, and getting hands-on, real-world experience.
The History of Baltimore International College
At its inception, BIC offered certificates in culinary arts. Soon, with growing popularity and increases in attendance, the College was offering two-year associate degrees to meet students' career demands. In 1987, the illustrious Ireland campus was established.
Throughout the 90s, BIC grew exponentially, purchasing the historic Calvert Center, Merchants Building and Commerce Exchange Building to provide classrooms, libraries, kitchen laboratories, a student union, and offices for faculty and staff. Degrees and programs also expanded to include hospitality management, as well as multiple certificates, associate and bachelor’s degrees.
Today, Baltimore International College continues to grow. The new, state-of-the-art Culinary Arts Center was completed in 2006. And the College now offers on-site and online hospitality master’s degrees. Three new hospitality bachelor’s degrees were added in 2010, and culinary and hospitality classes are offered year round, day and evening.
